"Law enforcement resources are wasted, and officers are not treated fairly."
"Victims of crime are not kept apprised of the status of their case and are ignored."
"Defendants are treated poorly by the solicitor and cannot timely resolve their cases."
"The result is inefficiency, backlog and waste of taxpayer dollars and inconsistent enforcement of the law."
No police chief, judge, or county official has ever complained, addressed, or discussed any issue about the officer’s treatment. Why? Because the Solicitor and her office respect the officers; their time is taken into consideration.
No victim is ignored. In fact, many victims contact our office after the case is closed to check in and say hello. We assist the victims through the process and refer them to agencies in town for additional assistance.
The Solicitor communicates only with defendants who have attorneys. Any discussion is with the attorney, and if they do not have an attorney, we ask a public defender to be present.
The law is administered equally against all defendants based on the facts of the case. Cases are not dropped or reduced without a legal reason. The Solicitor is doing the job they were elected to do, and this makes others have to work a little harder.
